So we jump ahead a few hours and Valentines. Sorta. The Chapter starts with Nomoto and Kasuga making plans.

They decide to meet in the Saturday after Valentine’s (Friday). So that’s good. Also before Valentine’s Nomoto receives need at work that her company has discontinued the yearly chocolate exchange.

Nomoto? Super hyped. She’s glad this practice is gone. And she doesn’t even ask why it’s suddenly gone. After all, this is a Red Letter Day that will be the highlight of the year… Of 2020.

Ugh. Yes. This is set in February 2020. Which means this is a strange ironic forewarning of… The Pandemic. Does this mean the series could suddenly end at Volume end? Because COVID? Eww.

Anyway a majority of the Chapter brings Nomoto & Kasuga together. It’s time to exchange gifts, and share in a chocolate party for two. How romantic.

Nomoto makes fondue (dipping chocolate) and full service stuff that tastes great when dipped in chocolate. Nomoto gifts her chocolate homemade gifts to Kasuga.

In a sudden switch of gears, Kasuga gifts Nomoto a beautiful yet tasty simple box of lovely handmade chocolate squares she bought. Apparently she changed her mind on the truffles/champagne stuff.

Nomoto busts out the wine, and this party is truly on. Surely now is the time to tell each other… That Kasuga is thinking of moving out. Uh… Well, talk about bad timing.

Sure. We know why she’s doing that. The relative she co-founded her lease with has passed away. But maybe this needs to happen so Nomoto can offer to live with Kasuga.

They love each othet. Cohabitation seems like the ideal solution to this conflict. And with the possibility the series suddenly ends due to COVID? Maybe it should press the gas and move faster. Maybe.

Morgan Freeman Stars In Tadano Has Fallen
So I’m the aftermath of V-Day, a broken Tadano returns home. With one gift given to him by Katai. And no clue what awaits him when he gives Katai a gift back in W-Day ahead.

Because Tadano is some sort of diva, he collapses as he gets into his home. Suffering from ZERO CHOCOLATES FROM FEMALES.

Sorry Katai. You might not be pleased to hear that Tadano doesn’t have those kind of feelings for you. Your probably going to end up with Kato… Or Naruse… Anyway so… Yeah.

Dinner time. And today is the first time we hear the Tadano mom speak. Important as she has to embarrass Hitohito in front of Komi. If she was paying attention.

Also unlike Marin’s fathers cameo deleted from the end of My Dress Up Darling Season 1, I don’t think they’ll delete her from the Season 2 end. Maybe. We will see.

Also yes. Worse thing Tadano had to hear was he’s getting chocolate from his mom and sister in V-Day. Worse fate ever… No. Don’t look at Rule34. Every mom son event is never a worse event ever for it… Don’t ask.

Sis sends Hitohito out to the store. Why? Do he runs headlong into Komi at the front door. Hitting her in the head with said door. And having mom call him Hito… So you have a family pet name, Hito. Big deal.

So Komi is ready to gift chocolates to Tadano. Yes? Eh… They go to a nearby park (The Manga Approved locale for young couples in love) and Komi gives him… A flyer on recycling.

Eventually, before he walks away, she finally womans up and… I’m a moment I bet is ever cuter in the Anime, she calls out to him stopping him. This time giving him the chocolates.

Specifically she gives him the best batch of chocolates she made. Just got him. What a lovely DAW moment! I’m blushing and this is just the manga! Cant wait for the review of the Anime!

Anyway the stress of giving Tadano the V-Day chocolates is too much, and a simple walk home with Tadano turns into a 500 meter sprint. Sheesh. Don’t kill him, Komi!

And that’s B-Day Year 1. A day so nerve wracking it required two parts for Komi to see it through to the end. But it’s not over! Monday is the Day After V-Day, as the verdicts are in… And Komi Homemade Chocolate is voted the best by consumers!

V-Day! Where Hearts Ache And Intentions Are Mixed Up!
Why yes (Mechanical), I do not have a single solitary happy memory of V-Day. Feel free to mock me about it back st your site.

Anyway V-Day Part 1. A day so stressful for Komi she needs a Part 2 just to finally give Tadano her chocolates of friendship love.

So lets sum up. The only use for V-Day to Najimi is how she exploits others for chocolates. Badly. Urgh. My favorite sociopath, Yamai, gives Komi Yamai custom made chocolates.

Hmm… Yes. If a chocolate company in Japan sold custom Yamai chocolates on wholesale? I’d buy them and eat them. Don’t judge me ok? They look awesome.

The stoic escapee from Final Fantasy, Nakanaka, is quite giddy she got chocolates. Agari is happy… Stay tuned for her Ramen Core review of the Komi chocos next week. Makeru… Is so devastated by Komi’s chocolates, she forgot yo give Komi her chocolates she made.

The boys also join in… And wait. Are we seeing Yamai and Nakanaka actually give chocolates to boys?!? Anyway Naruse berates Tadano for being in the dumps about no chocolates.

Yes. Despite sitting next to Tadano all this time, Komi cannot bring herself to give him chocolates yet. Spoiler… If he bought her chocolates? She would have traded with him. Bad Tadano.

Komi gives chocolates to Katai. Suddenly feeling the lesson communications Master Komi has brought to him… He’s ready yo give his offering to Tadano. Oh. And he got chocolate from Shogi Master Kato. It confused him.

Embolden by Communications Master Komi, Katai gives his offering to Tadano. Who vows to return the favor on W-Day. Which of course is taken as Tadano’s vow of love by Katai and…

And the entire school day passes and Komi missed her chance to give Tadano the chocolates she made. Even though she had no problem giving all her friends chocolates. Guess its harder when its someone you love. Maybe.

Tomorrow is Part 2. Watch Tadano have a love rejection fueled nervous breakdown. Read the words young men his age dread to hear on V-Day. And FINALLY see Komi give him those chocolates!

Sigh. Thought Hitomi and Yuu took forever to give each other vhocolates, but this is worse! Sigh. Tomorrow. See you.

VIZ Komi Can’t Communicate Volume 9 Review Chapter One Hundred & Sixteen (Digital)

Valentine Terror? Dial A-O-Y!!
The first year Valentine’s Day slash White Day double header is upon us. We start with V-Day, and end this Volume with W-Day.

Onemine wants to know what Komi is doing this Valentine’s Day. Her response is… Expected. After all, this is the first Valentine’s she has some special people to give chocolates to.

Well… Technically she’s giving out Friendship Chocolates for the most part. Until the end. Then it’s love. But she might die of shock if she admitted that. Also great! Did she learn the art of Friendship Chocolates from Starlight Glimmer or Twilight Sparkle??

We see Onemine’s home for the first time. Which… Ok. I admit. I need to see the Anime version because I barely made heads or tails of the Manga version. Anyway it’s her, Komi & fellow O Otaki.

We meet the Onemine younger siblings. Hence why Onemine is so skilled at being everyone’s Big Sister… Where are her parents? Dunno. Also maybe I shouldn’t ask.We only finally hear Tadano’s mom talk shortly so… The Onemine parents.

Let’s see. We have a young girl wearing an A shirt or sweater. A little boy or girl labelled O… And that boy Onemine beat up last Christmas. Aka Y. The three letters of doom.

They treat Otaki like a second sister… She must be a close family friend. Also they treat Komi like she’s Scary Girl. Komi? Scary? Never… Until you state into her silent scared eyes. Then scary.

Komi and Otaki has been invited to help Onemine make Valentine’s Chocolate that she shares with the young trio. Aka a Chocolate Cake. Despite this supposedly helping Komi make a gift for Tadano? No such thing occurs.

But this is a new opportunity for Komi to visit a friend’s house, and help make something for Valentine’s Day. Also it gives her first hand experience dealing with young children. A skill she will need later in life if she and Tadano ever have kids.

I kinda felt bad about Y getting whacked last Christmas. But that was because I had no idea what utter demons him and his twin sister are. Urgh. He gets whacked again for pinching big sis’s flank…

Except the text also says they’re poking butts too. Having poked Otaki in the butt. Urgh. Under aged harassment. Someone summon Ice T from SVU!

We find out Komi is pretty skilled in the baking dept. And she kinda sorta bonds with the terrible three. Don’t worry. They won’t be signing the coveted Book Of Friends at the end. That would be odd.

So they make Chocolate Marscapone Cake. And… Everyone says it. In the end caption we find out that Komi baked proper Valentine’s Day chocolates at home. A whole lot according to the original mid break blank page between Chapters.

Tomorrow it’s Valentine’s Day at svhool. As Komi hands out her Twilight Sparkle or Starlight Glimmer Friendship Chocolates to the cast… And her Valentine’s Day Princess Cadence Chocolates to Tadano. Eventually. But not before the stress causes him to snap.

A day of love, chocolates and Yamai. Of course there will be Yamai. Tomorrow. See you

Seven Seas Hitomi-chan Is Shy With Strangers Volume 5 Review Opener Chapter Forty-Nine

Valentine’s Day? But That’s Next Month!… ok ok fine. Valentine’s Day Review!

So it’s now February in the Hitomi-verse, and that means Valentine’s Day… I thought it was White Day but ok. Valentine’s Day. And we have Hitomi looking over the Valentine’s candy. Thinking of getting something for Yuu, but not quite brave enough to do it.

So it’s time to enter the brash noisy American, aka Angelica aka Angie. Also why is this noisy brash in your face character named after the most annoying character in Rugrats? Just curious…

She catches Hitomi staring at the Valentine’s Day candies, and takes the epic leap of assumption assuming she’s doing it because of Yuu. She’s right, of course, but that most certainly was a giant leap of assumption. Anyway she talks her into making her candy for him from scratch.

As for Angie? She can’t bake, but she can google a recipe to help Hitomi. To which Hitomi assures us that googling it won’t help her. Yup. We all can google for info… it’s the actual baking that she needs help with.

So the gang is all there. Angie, Hitomi (of course) and Kaoru. Apparently Angie and Kaori are going to be partners in crime in getting Hitomi and Yuu together it seems. Of course. And the first question is… what shapes?

Oh. Almost forgot. In the opening of the volume? We now have six characters in the opening intro section. Hitomi, Yuu, Kaoru, Hitomi’s brother (who has yet to get his own name), Ai (the cousin) and Himari… no Angie. Yet.

So the first question is… what shapes? Which should just what shape, because both Angie and Kaoru badger Hitomi until she agrees to make heart shaped candies. Other than that they bake the chocolates, box them, and watch as Hitomi denies once again that these are for Yuu.

She takes them to school with her the next day, and for the whole day it spends time in her bag… as she seems unable to bring herself to give them to Yuu. Finally Angie has to light a fire under Hitomi (verbally, not litterly) to get her to move. By… turning into a giant Chibi and rushing to Yuu, screaming loudly that Hitomi has a gift for him… very subtle there, Angie. Or is this supposed to be a reference to what Japanese think Americans are in terms of being subtle.

And so Hitomi gifts her chocolates to Yuu, which is sweet. HOWEVER it would have been sweeter if Yuu also had chocolates he made, and brought to her as well. Now that would have been the ultimately sweet moment. Maybe next time he will make chocolates for her.

The Chapter ends with Angie ruining the moment by telling Yuu he’s supposed to open the box, eat the chocolates, and tell her how wonderful they are… yes. We get it. He’s going to love them. You are ruining the lovely moment, Angie. Get back.

And that starts off Volume 5 of Hitomi-chan Is Shy With Strangers. And the ever growing love between Hitomi and Yuu. What’s next? Well we have two weeks of reviews ahead of us, so next up is… the most not safe for puppies moment yet of the title!

The gang goes to a hot spring resort, and we somehow get Yuu and Hitomi naked in the same hot springs together And Hitomi has no problems coming up and being with Yuu in the hot springs, bare naked. The same thing that would probably killed married woman Tsukasa is she had to do it in her title.

Well… don’t ask me why the unattached single Hitomi is more comfortable with nude hot spring bathing with Yuu than Tsukasa is with her husband, but ok. Also Ai shows up and turns this into even more of a not safe for Puppies moment being naked and all… well… that went straight to GODZILLA levels of danger immediately! That’s tomorrow so see you then!
