Case Closed Episode 66 Review (SPOILERS)

Ride Along To Murder
Today Richard/Mori, Rachel/Ran & Conan are being invited over to the house of Richard’s former police Senpai. All so Richard will end up collaborating for him.

Wait. Didn’t we already have an Episode in Season 1-2 where Richard ended up having to uncover a former mentor for murder? How many Richard/Mori mentors are going away in 30 Seasons?!?

There really isn’t that much of a case. Mind you Conan is stoked to meet this guy. After all he’s a senior police detective… Though this seems to be the first time Conan/Shinichi/Jimmy actually wants to meet another detective.

During the cookout, someone calls the detective, sending him out. Richard, worried about his Senpai, rides with him. But Conan suspects something is amiss. He talks Rachel into following them.

That’s not a hard feat. They learn a lot about the meeting by the detective. Maybe by now your Spider-sense is going off. It should. While they’re meeting with Richard, a Shot rings out.

They’re in a stereotypical warehouse area, so into a warehouse they go to find the detective has shot the crook he was meeting. Apparently in self defense.

Apparently, but Conan is not certain. Especially since the police lab report says the gun that shot the crook? Bore the fingerprints of three people. The crook, the detective, and a third.

Maybe this is jumping ahead a bit fast, but with only so much additional info? Conan is ready to unveil the killer. I guess there was enough given at the cook out to lock in the detective… So…

Using Maguire’s voice, he gathers everyone at the Detective’s house. Having the wife and Detective help separate Conan to watch… Yaibaman? It’s time for him to sedate Richard, and do the reveal.

So you should have figured out how the detective did it. That seems to be easy to figure out from the clues given. An additional gun hidden in him, which brings us to the third fingerprints.

Apparently watching the cookout closely you would realize the wife knew more than she let on. Sure enough? She already knew her husband had a secret gun. The third fingerprints? Is hers.

No she’s not guilty of killing anyone. But she wanted to stop him… But couldnt. Anyway why was he killing a crook? Because he was forced to be bribed by the crook. Because his daughter had cervical cancer.

Why kill him? Apparently the crook killed one of his own men, but couldn’t slip out of the charges easily. Suddenly he needed the detective to reimburse his bribes so he could flee. As opposed to have his superiors in the crime chain save him.

Well we aren’t surprised. Seemingly every dead person in this series must be evil. Otherwise how could we do a show about murders… If the murders weren’t justified. This is getting a bit out of hand. Right?

Well get used to it. This is a theme for probably all 25-30 Seasons so… This is Season 3. We are going to see this played out for… Forever pretty much. That’s ok yes? No? We will see.

That’s it for Disc 2. Disc 3 rolls out tomorrow. It’s a case about a Crab and a Whale. Spoilers… The murder victim is not a person addicted to buying micro transactions in AAA games. Stay tuned.

Case Closed Episode 65 Review

Godzilla! In The Downtown Tokyo Set! With The Kitchen Knife!
Ugh. Really? Gomera is really Godzilla? Ok! Fine! I admit it! It’s far easier to kill in the Godzilla costume than the Gamera costume!

Other reveals! No. Thievery inspired by Legendary’s Godzilla. That’s over a decade away from this point. Yes it’s probably inspired by the 90s Godzilla revival.

Yes. Gomera was selected because it’s probably easier to keep saying than Gojira. Also fear of copyright infringement… Except LOOK AT THAT DESIGN! Though… To be fair the teeth does look closer to Gamera than Godzilla.

Are you surprised to learn that Professor knows someone on the Godzilla set? Thanks to him Conan and the Junior Detective League are visiting the set of Godzilla Strikes Again… I’m not going to keep saying Gomera.

The movie is done shooting. Good. Because today is the day Godzilla Prop Suit Early 90s Dies. Or was it Late 90s. Look at the design. Someone must know what era this look is from.

We meet the suspects. The Director (Friend of Professor), the film crew, the suit actor, and… A female who once played one of Mothra’s fairies? Not according to plot but that’s the only fairy in Godzilla lore. And no she’s not from a Legend Of Zelda movie.

During the day Godzilla stand the suit actor, runs off, kills the movie Producer (a bit very nice man) and then runs upstairs and… Costume jumps off the roof and burns up.

Suddenly, during the investigation… No Richard or Rachel today… Ayumi/Amy pesters Conan about burying Godzilla and giving him a proper funeral. Oh. Don’t worry. She’s not that dumb. She has to push Cohen’s buttons so he gets angry at her.

Why? Apparently if your not looking at the evidence closely you might have missed something that the JDL notices… But only in context of Godzilla lore.

This seems to be a lightweights to the people who did the 90s Godzilla revival. Let’s see. Maguire is a fan of the director. The Suit actor loves being Godzilla and idol to millions. A lady who supposedly was one of Mothra’s fairies is here…

The burning of the Godzilla costume after he killed the producer? I’m sure that’s not actually a reference to a real happening in Godzilla film lore… If it is then what the hell is it referencing?!?

So get you will figure this out. But how about a reveal that’s played up comedic? Mainly it’s Time for the Anime team to make fun of… The foreign dubbing of Godzilla movie?!?

Apparently Conan didn’t expect that Godzilla was going to kill a human by conventional means today. So he left his watch with the tranqs at home. Uh boy. Improvisation is needed.

So Professor make a the reveal, with his voice dubbed in by Conan. Complete with faulty logic by Professor, bad lip synching, and dialogue goof ups. Truly the Anime taking a gaff at bad dubbing.

Also really? Today the JDL literally catch Conan in the act of revealing the murderer using Professor’s voice AND NOTHING WILL COME IF THIS REVEAL?!? SAME WITH MaGuire?!? REALLY??

Ok ok. I can forget that. It’s probably just part of the gang against badly done voiceovers in other languages. So that’s fine. Also? Miss Fairy reminds Conan that the world isn’t black & white. Good/Evil.

Id give the series credit BUT practically every kill is this lesson drilled into your head. Every dead person died because they’re really bad people deserving of death! Ugh. Nice line show… And to be fair she never lost her temper telling him this… But…

But this show has been drumming on about that forever. Which is why a lot of the killed always have some reason attached to them that they had to die. Blackmail, extortion, they’re evil, they hate puppies, etc.

In the post credit scene, the movie is a success, and revitalizes the Godzilla franchise. And as if Oprah Winfrey herself was stuck into the end, EVERYONE finds something nice under their chairs. Even the killer… Because of course.

So that’s the time Detective Conan X Godzilla was a thing. Ok… Next time we wrap up Disc 2. Case? Somebody dies and the evidence seems to revolve around… Three fingerprints.

Spoilers… Nope. A long three fingered grey alien from The X-Files didn’t kill the victim. It was your average human… Maybe. That’s tomorrow. See you.

Case Closed Episode 64 Review (SPOILERS)

The Case Of The Pirate… Whoops… The Shogun Curse.
Seriously. Are we surprised that the Localization repackaged a Shogun Curse as Pirate?

We already knew that the island was refuge for a renegade band of samurai and a rogue Shogun, before the islanders killed them all. But really redressing it as pirates? The sub of the Japanese dub reveals the truth.

Eventually the islanders decide they want to lynch Richard to death. After all you can’t father a lynch mob and not have a lynching. That’s Chekov’s Mother Russia reference for you in action.

So Conan has to sedate Richard, and talk him out of dying. By revealing what he learned, and partially shared with the island policeman.

Apparently, and this is learned later, the reason both the lighthouse keeper and the representative of a travel agency knew each other was… They were the crew of the Ill fated rich man escape tactic.

The lighthouse guy tossed both the rich Bastard and the other guy overboard and stole the ship. The rich guy died (a fitting fate I suppose if you equate embezzlement and liquid assets), the other guy survived.

The lighthouse guy was tortured for his info. But since we knew that the agency guy didn’t do it. He did ransack the lighthouse for info remember? Someone else did the torture kill.

Ultimately Conan and that feisty modern girl (Zuzu) has to team up (at the low low price of a kiss) to explore the cave. It’s there that the full picture is made clear. And the true killer revealed.

So what happened after the lighthouse guy took control of the ship? He came to this island and his the ship, working out his next part of his plan… Nature decided to do that for him.

Hiding the ship in a ocean cave (and finding the exit which became the cursed Shogun cave), his fate was decided when the passing typhoon he escaped collapsed the cave entrance. Hiding the ship.

So he became the light house keeper, and kept watch over the ship hiding spot for seven years. Killing a local archeologist and concocting the Shogun myth to keep people away.

However he ultimately did himself in by stealing from the town. Hence the Richard is here on a speaking tour lie. He was really there to investigate the light house keeper for theft.

Why was the ship found at sea? A new storm passed, and reopened the cave. Tides did the rest and exposed the ship. Drawing the lighthouse keepers one time partner.

However he’s found dead in the cave. Killed by the true killer. The most helpful older man in the whole village. Oh great! He took an Andy Griffith as villain heel turn!

In the end Conan subdues the guy by playing in his greed. And using one of the gold bricks to KO him. The gold? Hidden in the cave as… A makeshift stairway leading from the ship’s testing spot to the topside cave.

With the above Cliffside threatening to bury the cave, Conan saved the killer as he and Zuzu escape the cave before it collapsed with the killer. They’re picked up by the gang the end.

So according to Conan in narrative? The gold was buried by the collapse of the cliffside. And as far as the islanders are concerned? Great! They say that’s the price to have the Shogun Curse revoked.

That’s fine. Not like anyone can’t just bring in an excavation team later to retrieve the gold if needed. Anyway that’s the Shogun Curse aka Ghost Ship Murder… Murders, plural, two died. Three of you count the rich embezzler from the story.

So from Shogun warriors mislabeled as pirates? We move to another threat from the deep. Gamera (Friend of Children, Flys by the power of Taco Bell), mislabeled as Gomera.

An foreclosure that seemingly is a hidden tribute to Japan’s lesser Kaiju lrgend. Gamera. How will this all play out? Find out tomorrow. Same Kaiju time, same Gamera review site. See you.

Case Closed Episode 63 Review

The Hunt For A Billion In Gold…
I’m This two parter, the whole mystery revolves around the return of a seven year long missing ship to a remote island in Japan.

The ship was captain’d by a rich man, who used it to flee from embezzlement charges. Taking all his ill gotten gains, and turning it into gold. His plan was to flee to a non extradition country.

He supposedly never made it. His ship vanished. Convicted man, gold, and all. Suddenly his ship pops up again. No corpse on board, no gold, nothing. Just a heavily damaged ship. Supposedly it vanished in a typhoon. Hence the damage.

So how does this relate to the gang? Richard supposedly has been invited to the island as part of his lecture series on solving crimes. Despite being the well known Sleeping Detective. Sigh.

This is to bring him to the island. So he can be eventually arrested for someone’s death. But we are jumping ahead. As the suspects are gathering.

There’s a man who is there as the representative of a tour company, who wants to open the island up for tourism involving the recovered ship and it’s mystery attached to it.

Except he doesn’t seem to be a real rep. He seems to know the island lighthouse keeper, your number one suspect for a mysterious character hiding from his dark past. He ends up dead soon. Hmm… Think he died over his dark past?

There’s the head of the island community. He wants Richard on the island to help find that gold. Because of he gets a hold of it? He’s going to claim it and use it to turn the island into a resort island. Despite the fact isn’t that gold to be claimed by the law?

Regardless of whether the authorities claim the gold and reimburse those embezzled several years ago, it’s clear that billion worth of missing hold is enough to kill for. Quite easy as the island has a so called Pirate curse.

Supposedly renegade samurai hid on this island in the past. Given their heavy samurai armor seen in this story? The so called pirates seems to be renegade samurai. Ultimately killed by past natives of the island.

Speaking of kill? At the greeting ceremony for Richard, aka his lecture? A lecture he shows up to drunk? He’s almost fire bombed by a gas trap laid in the greeting banner ball. Richard ends up getting his butt burned.

Speaking of burns you can feel, there’s a young sassy girl on this island that takes a real shine to Conan. Hmmm… Is she warning is up for the coming of sassy girl Ai? Anyway she’s Conan’s help throughout this case.

The night of the attack on Richard? Conan is drawn out to the light house. And find that it’s been trashed. Which seems to imply that the light house keeper was already dead at this point.

The killer? Dressed in old samurai armor (as part of the so called Pirate curse), he attacks Richard… But runs when confronted by Rachel. He leads Richard all the way to the shipyard…

He knocks him out in the building where he left the dead lighthouse keeper (dressed in his own samurai armor suit), and now Richard is framed for murder. Conan? Fearful of he can’t clear Richard then he will be locked up for life.

Really? On a small island where his once fans are turning into an angry lynch mob? They’re going to send him away to prison for life… As opposed to lynch him to death. Which I’m sure they’re about to do.

So who killed the light house keeper? What is his dark past? How was he connected to the representative guy from earlier? Is this really all about the gold? Or something else?

Episode 64 tomorrow. Then? It’s Detective Conan X Gamera time. Friday. That’s all coming up so see you!

Case Closed Episode 62 Review

Sorry. There Isn’t Much Of A Crime To Solve Today. Move Along.
I’m guessing the writer needed a breather from giving you mysteries to solve? Because from time to time no mystery.

How can you solve the mystery of you watch the crime take place right before your eyes. Like today. By the time it’s investigation time? You know who killed who, with what, and why.

Today it’s a famous artist who out work on the Easy Button. By making his female lover his full time artist, doing 60% of his work for him. Ugh. Really?

Also welcome to Rule34ville. The episode starts by implying the two had sex the night before. Their sex romps not exactly secret here. Anyway she was just not happy being beaten up by him, and ecploited, so she threatened to expose the truth of his work.

He threw a fit at her needy grabby self. First slapped her, then killed her with a crystal ashtray to the head. That’s when it became time to begin figuring out how he staged her “death”.

So how does Richard/Mori and duo get involved? The latest book of art by this killer artist and his now dead sexfriend was of crime scenes. So if course being in Richard to forward the book.

While our Artist is meeting with Richard, Rachel/Ran & Conan? He pulls up an elaborate Rube Goldberg trick to have her corpse “jump” off her balcony to her death. Nice contraption set up…

Nice except it could have failed several ways. First off the whole trap literally dangled a 100ish pound dead woman of taunt fishing line. Rigged to drop her body when the courier opened her door to deliver a package.

It was raining that day. Hence Conan wondered why her sheet was hung outside her apartment… To hide the body… But if it was raining? Why didn’t it soak the sheet? Pulling it off to prematurely reveal the body? Or causing the giant wire to break prematurely?

He killed her by bashing in her head. If her drop went wrong? Her body could have impacted back first, or legs first. Drawing the question why her head was saved in if she didn’t impact head first.

Also given the ridiculously complicated Rube Goldberg set up of fishing lines to hold this up? And the weight planned to drag the fishing wire down a patio drain to dispose of? Lots of room to err.

The fishing line could have failed at any point. The balancing counterweight could have broke first and unraveled the line prematurely. Windy day? Might have tangled the body in the cover up sheet.

Heck. Maybe the wind and sheet could have ultimately conspired and prevented the hung body from dropping. Her body could have been seen dangling from the balcony dead.

Also? Since Conan drugged Richard while he was out on the patio? PS really? Today Richard and Rachel conspired to complicate a seemingly easy investigation by hampering Conan throughout? Really?

Since Conan had to drug him outside on the patio? He couldn’t hide behind Richard. So he hooked him up with the remote micro speaker, and did his act… I’m full view of all. Yet nobody noticed despite standing within touching distance of Conan. Why!!

It’s an ok crime with an impressively complex means to take a suicide. But she left too much evidence on her killer (unintentionally as she was still in love when she did get pranks) for him to escape her murder. A murder we didn’t solve.

Not like there was a robust suspect list or anything. Still I like solving a good case. Don’t you? Anyway tomorrow? It’s the 3rd two parter. Something about a Ghost Ship Murder…

Spoiler… This time? The murderer is NOT Space Ghost… Yeah. Pretty sure it’s not Space Ghost. Well see you tomorrow. Bye.

The Luckiest Boy In The World
When your a good hearted, selfless upbeat kind kid? No amount of murder attempts can kill you. Great. Plot armor that protects the adorably pure.

But I’m wondering… Is this not supposed to be autistic? The episode just says he’s a lonely child. The only child of his parents. But still a loved child. Not just by his parents but by all who meet him. All.

So there’s some event going on to promote the Shopping district, and teach future shoppers how to shop in their own. It’s not always successful… Some kids get overwhelmed or go off script. But it is a worthwhile contest for the young.

As part of the plan by the Junior Detective League to get wider recognition by the public, they’re pulling reporter duty. They track the young contestants. Along with others.

At the end of the event all footage is analyzed. This is to ensure there was no parental cheating during the competition. Helping their kids with their simple shopping lists.

They end up following a young boy named Leonardo. His only child story makes Shinichi/Jimmy flash back to his own lonely childhood. Where… Apparently… He always wanted to be a detective.

Yeah apparently his detective thing wasn’t recent. But I’m the bright side he never became so depressed he gained a cocaine addiction like his idol Sherlock Holmes.

Seemingly walking into an abandoned building, the young boy attracts the attention of the person inside. Who killed someone the night before. He follows the boy and tries to kill him. But fails twice, once thanks to Conan intervening.

He finally knocks the boy out with chloroform and takes him back to the abandoned building. Eventually they figure it out and fol!ow. The Junior Detectives finding Leonardo alive but knocked out in the basement. Along with a dead man.

The one who did it locks them into the basment. They’re meant to die when the demolition team years down the building… Right now. Via a wrecking ball… No. I don’t know why nobody did a final check before clearing the demolition.

As the building is being smashed, the basement close to colapsing on them all, the demolition opens a path to the nearby underground… Sewers? Anyway they all get free and confront the man. The demolition crew there to witness his crime.

The sad part? He chased that boy gearing he was going to report him. But all he wanted was grocery items. Because he remembers when the building was a store. And the killer was it’s owner.

Guilt washed over him as he collapsed before the unaware boy, confessing everything… Including that the dead man was a bad bad loan shark who bankrupted him and had to die.

No seriously. Don’t get too sad for any dead people in this show. Odds are they’re going to be made out to be monsters by the time the revelation is made. Each and every time… Wow. Just wow.

So Richard and Rachel are there to witness the triumph of the Junior Detective League in saving Leonardo, and stopping a man from making a horrible mistake and killing a young possibly autistic child. A good ending.

So will this mean the Junior Detective League will take off in popularity now? Will Ai join the League in a future Season? Guess only time will tell. Stay tuned.

Next !urder? Something to do with illustrations. A advertising kill? A mangaka murder? Guess we will find out more tomorrow. See you.

Case Closed Episode 60 Review (SPOILERS)

Harley Not Quinn Figured It Out? Knew That!
Yeah it turns out the one big mystery of this two parter, whether rival Harley Hartley figures out Conan is Shinichi/Jimmy? Moot point. We know he knows.

That’s from reviewing Movie #3 before hand. Anyway that’s half of the reveals from Movie #3 realized. Next up is the origin of Ai and Tuxedo Kamen. When will Ai shows up? Stay tuned.

So the solution of this case? Apparently it was all premeditated… Until the attempt to ice pick that one guy near the end. That was on the spot improv. Sloppy improv.

Anyway by mid episode they’re ready to solve, but by now Conan is keenly aware that Harley is just about ready to reveal him. So he decided to sedate him and talk through him.

Great move… Well not really. At this point he had enough to realize Jimmy/Shinichi and Conan is one and the sane. He just needed the last bit of proof.

That comes thanks to… Him getting into arguments with Richard Moore. Conan cannot stop Richard from assaulting the unconscious Harley. Luckily that didn’t ruin the illusion…

It only woke him up. He stood “in character” and pretty much let Conan gill in all the final pieces. So that he’s ready to confront Conan by the end. Uncovering the how tie mic in the process.

So as for the case? Why? Why did Sherlock Holmes Fan #1 have to die? The rich guy that brought everyone together? Well… If you think it had to do with the series demonizing all killed people? You’d be right.

Apparently him, and the guy who was supposed to have died instead of the lady, worked together to write a blasphemous book ridiculing Sherlock Holmes. And dragging female character Irene (Holmes’ female equal) into it.

Apparently the rich fan never heard that flaws make for compelling characters. And everything he criticized Holmes of in terms of failed deductions? Made him the beloved character he is. Flaws, handled right, can be good literary tools.

But the killer let his fandom overtake him. The lady? She only died because she was ready to reveal his murder schemes. Ugh. What a sad end of her… Also her death was pre ordained.

Let’s just say she should have paid attention to why the garage car couldn’t have been used earlier to go get help. That circumstance led to get obvious death.

Anyway Conan played the knock out dart ploy one too many times, and effectively outed himself to Harley. In the end… The Dub makes him cry out that Harley won. Japanese version? Just stops him.

Stops him from telling Rachel/Ran that Conan is Jimmy/Shinichi. Anyway from Movie #3 we know she’s still only speculating the connection, but gets detailed before confirming her ideas. Sigh.

Anyway that’s the time Harley figured out that Conan was Jimmy slash Shinichi. Bringing those in the know to 2. 3 once Ai shows up. Anyway tomorrow is Episode 61…

Shopping, it seems, can be hazardous to your continued desire to live. Even if it’s not Black Friday. How so? Guess we find out tomorrow as it seems we return to the Shopping District Of Death.

Thursday? Would you believe a surprise crossover is coming with… Gamera? Giant turtle Kaiju? Friend to all Children? Pyrotechnic flying tortoise? Yeah. Gomera… But we know it’s Gamera… That’s Thursday! Hmm…

On a personal note? When I started reviewing the disc? It played as if someone was watching the DVD for awhile. It was at the end of the Gamera episode? But how! I only put the disc in today. Hmmm… Strange. Oh well…

The Mystery Of The Pre-Watched New DVD will probably never be solved. Eh. Anyway see you all tomorrow. Take care. Don’t let invisible people prewatch your DVDs! Night!

Case Closed Episode 59 Review (SPOILERS)

What Not To Do When You Back Yourself Into A Literary Corner.
Oh! I know this one! Ahem… You don’t set up camp, order take out, and declare I Live Here Now.

Which apparently is exactly what our series creator just did as if here and now. How does he explain away every time Conan drugs Richard/Mori to solve the case in his voice? Just you wait!

So Conan’s rival from the end of Season 2… Mitchell?… He’s here. And he seems to be close to figuring out that Conan is Jimmy/Shinichi. Surely not…

EXCEPT we already reviewed Movie #3, so we know this is about to happen. Guess that time is now. So let’s all pretend we are shocked when Mitchell figures it out by the two parter end.

Though given the set up? I’m wondering if Mitchell hasn’t set this whole scenario up to entrap Conan and reveal him to be Jimmy slash Shinichi. Why? Well…

Conan enters and wins a Sherlock Holmes competition. He’s whisked off to a remote mansion with a bunch of fans… And Richard & Rachel. Why Richard? Because he’s a famous real detective.

The host of the event has invited everyone to compete for a coveted prize, a First Edition copy of A Study In Scarlet, the first novel appearance of Sherlock Holmes. All people have to do is answer a 1000 question quiz on Holmes, and get 990 right.

To insure nobody cheats he confiscates all their mobile phones and Holmes reference materials. Important later once the killing begins. He also claims the house is under surveillance. A lie…?

Yeah… Huh? Really? You gathered a group of people who are detective Sherlock Holmes fans and you don’t give them a mystery to solve? Then again… Maybe he did.

Except now we have a problem between the Japanese version (revealed through the subs) and the English localization. Their host seemingly is a no show for grading everyone’s tests.

Some wait, some retire to their rooms, suddenly they see him in his car… Driving towards the nearby cliff (this is a seaside manor don’t you know). Conan & Mitchell try to save him, but fail.

Suddenly everyone is kinda a detective? And Mitchell begins to suspect that Conan might be… Jimmy/Shinichi? Also after the host seemingly dies they find their phones… Well. No one is calling out. Also the First Edition is missing.

Suddenly one of the female players reveals she guessed who the killer was, but won’t tell anyone. Not even get boyfriend. During the questioning we hit a translation roadblock…

In the Japanese version Rae remarks seeing something suspicious with her after lunch. But in the Dub Rachel says it’s after dinner. Is that important? Not really.

Given the animation is dark and implies night then it doesn’t matter if the Japanese said strange things happened after 1PM… Until tomorrow’s plot says otherwise.

While trying to figure out if she knew anything the manor garage suddenly explodes… Yup. That Girl who knew? Supposedly dead. If this isn’t all drama for the benefit of someone.

How was she killed? Apparently someone tried to lure a player out promising to give them the First Edition. Giving them death and a Viking funeral instead. So at this point we have two dead.

Also here’s the excuse! Ready for it? While talking about Richard’s credentials as a detective? Mainly accusations thrown by the angry man mourning his dead girlfriend. Rachel defends him by…

Telling us how everyone has been ignoring the whole Richard keeps getting drugged unconscious thing. And that is… THEY DONT!! Apparently he is now THE SLEEPING DETECTIVE! Who solved cases while in deep meditation… WHAT!!

NO REALLY! HE’S CALLED THE SLEEPING DETECTIVE SO SOMEBODY NOTICED HE’S DRUGGED UNCONSCIOUS… Ugh. I thought only Christian Apologists contorted reality to fit their narratives! But this… Really!!

I guess it doesn’t matter. All this is to finally get us to the point where Mitchell becomes one of those who knows Cohen’s secret. We already know this is happening from Movie #3. I’m pretty sure the whole Sleeping Detective thing will be forgotten after this.

Anyway someone stabbed one of the noisy difficult players, and pretends to have escaped out a broken window. But both Mitchell and Conan knows how the garage was remote detonated… And probably has an idea of who the killer is. Maybe.

So tomorrow is Part 2. Regardless of how this plays out? There’s a good chance that Mitchell will finally unmask Conan as Shinichi aka Jimmy. We know it’s happening so… Guess we shall see.

Anyway that’s Disc 1. Tomorrow is Episode 60 as we start Disc 2. The Footsteps Of A Hero Part 2. See you.

Case Closed Episode 58 Review (SPOILERS)

Killed By Wille E Coyote Level Tactics
So today’s murder is a bit genius, using your own building’s security camera to trigger the kill event of the episode… Huh? Revealed too soon? No problem. The episode does that too.

There’s no mystery who did it. From the very start your shown the guilty doing it. There’s no red herrings, no misdirections, your just left to figure out how he did it.

Why? That’s revealed over time. But let’s go into it. A small cleaning business in the heart of Tokyo whose mascot was a giant Sunfish… And the woes that led to murder.

Speaking of murder? Rachel/Ran seems hellbent on murdering her father. This season she’s making him get fit. I’m sure this is all part of his character reformation but… Yeah he’s not faring well.

Will there be a point to all this? Will he and his ex get back together if Rachel/Ran works hard enough to rehabilitate Richard/Mori? Guess we will see as the series continues.

Once again coincidence is the name of the game. They just do happen to pass by just as Earth’s slowest victim fails his saving throw vs Wille E Coyote Trap. Killed by falling I-Beam.

They end up investigating the only two people in the office the victim died next to, and was Vice President of. Sunfish Cleaners. His parter and their business manager.

Since we already know that it’s the company President, the episode showing us as much, no need to even consider the others. Unless you are like me and over think things. Like me.

But once you find out that the last in the present wasn’t the last from the opening photo? She was the sister of the President? And she was killed by a Wille E Coyote falling I-Beam? That’s all the confirmation you need.

The clever way of triggering the trap? And the best perfect way it was pulled off? Nice. But Conan eventually puts it all together and nails him. The murder was done with Will Smith Deadshot levels of mad skills. No guns, but mad skills… And mirrors.

So why kill the Vice President? Was it because he was leaving to form a rival cleaning company? No. It was because said man dumped the Presidents sister to marry a rich lady. He blamed him for his sister dying.

Hence why he had to die via Wille E Coyote I-Beam death trap. Just like his sister. Only after they were killed no brainy yet stupid coyote tried to eat their corpses.

It’s an ok mystery, almost, except the episode straight up reveals the killer from the start. No muss, fuss, or mystery to solve. You know who did it. Now figure out how and why. I guess that’s ok but a bit of a disappointment.

We end Disc 1, and start Disc 2 with the second of four two parters. Footsteps Of The Hero. What is this all about? Dunno. Guess we will find out on review starting tomorrow. See you.

A Dead Person On A Train That’s NOT A Zombie?!? How Novel!!
Ok it’s in a decade and a half or so before Train To Busan. But here we go. A Train trip with a dead person who’s not a zombie!

The trio are enjoying a vacation at a spa resort. A gift from the Grand Daughter of the head monk killed in Episode 55. That’s great and all… Be greater still if Richard stop going into the tank!

Apparently it’s always Drunk O’Clock for Ricgard… He’s drunk again. Anyway we have two color codes trains. The Blue & The Orange. They’re both going to the same stop, but arrive minutes apart.

On the train they meet a pair of Doctors. Apparently their Doctor group was staying at the same hot springs resort as our trio. They kinda sorta ride with the trio all the way to the transfer station.

Meanwhile the Blue Train? By the time the Orange Train arrives, and our trio is waiting for their transfer train? We find out one of their doctor colleagues died on the Blue train. Poisoned.

Richard? Thinks it’s robbery. So Conan has to talk him out of that notion. Leaving us with…  Well… the one guy. Who vanishes when they first met, and doesn’t appear again until the transfer station.

Does this make figuring out the killer sorta like hitting the Easy Button? Yes. Yes it does. No attempts are even made to give you multiple suspects. You have just the one obvious suspect.

Only one really obvious suspect? All the evidence and what we know of the guy all fits? And no attempt at a red herring deception. You have the one suspect throughout.

All your left is figuring out how he switched to the Blue Train from the Orange. And that’s easy enough once you think a little bit outside of the box.

So all that is left is for Conan to lure Richard into the station master office, drug him, and call everyone in to unmask the killer. Which is nicely played out. With the guilty coming close to challenging Richard to prove him guilty.

The means by which he did it was a bit clever… Not sure how he managed to kill the guy in the middle of a fairly busy train… Other than I guess for plot the victim had his own car to sit in. Maybe.

Nope. This doesn’t connect to last episode at all… Almost. It does mention the pharmaceutical industry. And that the guilty was pocketing kickbacks from them to recommend their drugs.

After over 50 episodes the Pharmaceutical companies are finally mentioned… And not in relation to the age reversing poison. Sigh. Anyway it is a mention so ok. I’ll take it. Anyway a decent enjoyable case overall.

Next time? The Sunfish Murder. Aren’t those massively huge fish? And why would someone murder a Sunfish… Oh. It’s not actually a Sunfish murder, it’s just a Human being killed again. Ok.

A case where Alicorn Princesses of the Sun and Moon are not suspects. Tomorrow. See you.
