Ok. Her second appearance is just to foreshadow the theft planned by White Tuxedo Kamen. So… Yeah. She doesn’t play a big role in this movie it seems.
Considering White Tuxedo Kaman appears on the cover of the Season 3DVD? I’m thinking this movie came out in the mid season break for Season 3? Maybe he will appear in the second half of Season 3?
Unlike the new Detective boy who is not dead (Heard of Neil Gaiman’s Dead Boy Detectives Season 1? It just came out, and is part of a shared universe with The Sandman because Death)…
Sorry. I just wanted to bring The Sandnan up since I finally got Season 1 on DVD. Yay. Anyway I’m pretty sure Ai won’t play a role in this season but… Stay tuned.
So the gang is brought to the museum by a limo. The big wigs of the museum taking this theft threat quite seriously. Gathering all the big shots tied to this one item at the museum to meet the gang. But they’re not alone. Cohen’s rival from Season 2s end is here.
He and his… Girlfriend? Well of course he would end up hearing about the theft threat, and show up. Which is good as… It turns out, SPOILERS, he knows Conan and Shinichi/Jimmy are one in the same. Him and Ai. Only he deduced it. Ai? Well… See last review.
So what is so important that White Tuxedo Kamen wants a full audience of law enforcement and so on to witness this theft? As well as an international audience? It’s actually big… And small.
But first… It looks like an actual arrestable crime is brewing within the ranks of those assembled to meet the team. As one involved (a well known photographer) seems freaked out as he passes the man guarding the treasure as he leaves with the execs.
Well… Guess this shouldn’t be a surprise. If the Season 3 DVD case implies White Tuxedo Kamen won’t be arrested in this movie? Someone has to be arrested. Hence… One of these people.
The item? A fabrege egg worth 8 billion yen. Not for its rare construct or precious gem inlays. On the contrary. It’s worth 8 billion not from it owns, but who owned it. The egg once belonged to Tear Nicolas II. Last Emperor of Russia.
If the name sounds familiar? The egg contains a depiction of the tsar and his family. Including a young Grand Duchess Anastasia. Yup. White Tuxedo Kamen wants to go to the top of the Most Wanted list by stealing an artifact tied to Anastasia!
As far as Plot device treasures go? It’s a logical one. Besides the tie to Anastasia, it’s also tied to the instigator of the Russo Japanese War of 1913-1917 or so. So Nicholas II is known to any Japanese person knowledgeable of history.
Because his arrogance is huge, he has issued a riddle of alphabets to everyone. At first it looks like Mori answers it right (associating the answer to English)… Forgetting the target is Russian. Deducting the attempt will be at 3AM.
Since its hours yet to the crime? Only Mori stays behind at the museum, while everyone else not involved yet in the capture head back to their hotel. So the two can converse without hiding anything, Conan and the … I need to learn his name… Go off.
All the ladies (Ran, Sonoma & new girl) are on their own as the two detectives brood over the clue. Eventually deducting that the clue refers to Russian alphabet. And a time of 7:20PM.
Sure enough that is the correct time. White Tuxedo Kamen even going so far as to say in the museum and his police rivals with a trained dove… Oh come on! Really? A trained dove?!? Boo!!
Looks like the museum watercraft cops time. They have all shown up to guard… A decoy. The real fabrege egg is at another location. One easily discovered by Conan & guy by… Plot convenience?
Because White Tuxedo Kanen is such an arrogant twat? He must ensure everyone knows he’s going to strike. With a fireworks display. Blowing up a power relay station plunging Osaka briefly into darkness…
All so he can find his target. The one building not affected by the blackout, as it has its own emergency backup systems. Marking his target as to where the real egg is.
And with that he’s off. Launching him into action on… His logic defying magic gang glider that flies without strong winds to keep it up. Ugh. But wait… It might actually get worse!
So it’s a race of impossibilities. WTK’ hang glider that glides without wind, and Conan’s solar powered skateboard that goes without sun. Ugh. Really? Anyway it’s time for the two to meet… Right? Coming up so stay tuned.
